Characters & variants
Create a reusable character once, then mention it with @ in any image or video generation. Make new looks with variants.
A character is a person or subject you create once and reuse again and again. When you make one, the studio generates a sheet with several angles and poses — then, whenever you create an image or video, you can call it back with @name in the prompt to bring the same character into the scene consistently. No need to re-describe their look every time.
Two ways to create a character
Open the Characters screen from the left sidebar to make a new one. There are two ways to do it.
1. From text (a prompt)
Describe the person you want in words, and a character is generated. The more specific you are about their look, outfit, and mood, the closer the result lands to what you had in mind.
- On the Characters screen, choose the text generation option.
- Enter a name and a prompt — e.g. "a woman in her 20s with short black hair and round glasses, wearing a beige trench coat."
- Press Generate, and a character sheet with several poses is created.
This method is available to everyone, right away.
2. From an image upload (inquiry required)
You can also upload photos you already have and build a character from them. Uploading several photos (four or more recommended) captures the person's features more reliably.
Image upload is currently offered on a limited basis, and using it requires a separate inquiry. If you'd like access, please reach out to support@vigloostudio.com. Until then, you can still create characters with the From text method above.
Variants — same character, a new look
Once a character exists, you can make variants — the same person in a different outfit or style. A suit, summer clothes, fantasy armor — the identity stays the same, only the look changes.
- From the character's detail view, choose New variant.
- Enter a name for the variant and describe the look you want — e.g. "wearing a black tuxedo."
- Press Generate, and a new sheet is created based on the original character.
Each variant is derived from a single base character. Variants have their own names too, so you can call the exact look you want with @name when you generate.
Calling a character in a generation
Type @ in any image or video prompt and the list of characters you've made appears. Pick one and it's mentioned as @name, bringing that character into the result. You can call more than one character into the same scene.
Good to know
- Creating characters and variants uses credits.
- Generation takes a moment; when it finishes, the character is added to your library as a card you can reuse anytime.
- If a request goes against the content policy, it's declined and the credits are refunded automatically.
